Contact Syncing - Individuals and Groups

Pingboard's Contact Syncing feature allows users within a company to sync another user's contact information directly to their mobile device. This is a great feature for organizations that prefer communicating using a company phone or for employees that want to quickly add their favorite coworker's phone number to their mobile contacts.

Note: The only user information that can be synced to another user's device are contact-related fields that are set to public. These fields include First and Last Name, Mobile and Office Phone Numbers, Email, and Company Name. 

Syncing Individual Contacts

If you're looking to only save one contact, here are the steps you can follow:

  1. Open up the Pingboard Mobile App.
  2. Search or Navigate to the user's profile.
  3. Click on the three dots (...) in the top right corner of their profile.
  4. Select the Add Contact option from the dropdown.
  5. A success message will appear letting you know that their contact information has successfully synced with your mobile contacts. The Add Contact option will now show as Update Contact. 
Tip: If this is your first time syncing a contact from the Pingboard mobile app, you will get a pop-up asking you to grant Pingboard permission to your phone contacts. You can also do this from your phone's settings under the Pingboard App.

Syncing Group Contacts

Another option you have is to sync multiple contacts at once that are all from the same group or department. Here are the steps you can follow:

  1. Open up the Pingboard Mobile App.
  2. Search or Navigate to the department or group page from the directory.
  3. Once on their directory page, you will see a list of all the associated users to that group or department. Find and click the "Save Contacts" button at the top right corner of the page.
  4. A modal will appear on your screen asking you to confirm that you want to save all of the contacts associated with this department or group to your phone. Click the Save Contacts button.
  5. A success message will appear letting you know that everyone's contact information has successfully synced with your mobile contacts. The Add Contacts option will now show as Update Contacts.

Note: If you have previously saved a Pingboard contact to your phone, and then sync a department or group that they are associated with, our Contact Sync feature will recognize them as the same contact and will NOT duplicate the existing mobile contact. 

Updating Synced Contacts

If a user that you have already saved as a contact on your mobile device updates any information on their Pingboard profile associated with their contact, then you can easily update their contact directly from Pingboard! 

  1. Open up the Pingboard Mobile App.
  2. Search or Navigate to the user's profile.
  3. Click on the three dots (...) in the top right corner of their profile.
  4. Select the Update Contact option from the dropdown.
  5. A success message will appear letting you know that their contact information has been successfully updated in your mobile contacts. 
Tip: You can also Update Contacts for an entire department or group, but the button will still say Save Contacts on their directory page. This will NOT create duplicate contacts for those that have not made any changes to their Pingboard contact information.
