For Admins, creating and editing Org Charts is easy with our simple, drag-and-drop Edit Mode. Even if you're using our import options to upload your chart directly to your account, Edit Mode provides quick and powerful customization.
Click the Mode button to switch from View to Edit mode:
When you switch to Edit mode, new options appear on the screen; the Employees panel is shown on the left and Add (+) buttons appear when you hover over cards. To add positions to your org chart, hover over a card, click Add (+) and select Role. New cards drop in each time you click the button so you can keep clicking to add multiple new roles.
Now it's time to fill those roles! Click and drag team members from the Employees panel on the left to place them on empty cards. If they’re not in the Employees panel yet, click the +New button in that panel to create them.
To create a Placeholder card for an position, select any empty card to pull up the Role Editor on the right side of the page. Fill in the Job Title to name the open position. Your changes will be saved automatically.
You can also assign employees to roles as you add them – add the new role by clicking the Add (+) button on a card, click on the empty role, then use the Assigned To drop-down menu on the right to search for and select a team member for that position.
To move someone into another position on the chart, click on the overflow menu (three dots) on the top-right corner of their card and select Move. Remove the current manager above them, then type the name of their new manager, select, and click Save.
To remove a person from a Role, click on a card and select Remove from Role from the Role Editor on the right. Removing from a person will place them back into the Employees tab and leave that role un-populated until you drag a new person into it.
To remove a Role from your chart completely, click the overflow menu (three dots) and select Remove Role. Removing a Role from your chart will place the person in that position back into the Employees tab and remove the card from your Org Chart.
Those are the basics, but there's much more you can do!
- Click the Add (+) button above any role to add Dotted Lines or Departments
- Make any card a Shared Role by clicking on the position and selecting Shared
- Drag-and-drop the order of a manager's Direct Reports by clicking on the overflow menu and selecting Sort Direct Reports
