Add, Edit, Hide, or Remove Custom Fields

Custom Fields personalize Profiles in your Pingboard account, capturing specific information about your people's interests, abilities, and personalities. Any Admin in Pingboard can add Custom Fields to an account

  1. Navigate to Settings > Customize Profiles.
  2. Select the +New Field button.
  3. Choose a Field Type from the drop-down menu.
  4. Enter the details for your new Custom Field (be sure to take a look at the Permissions tab), then select Create Field.

Select an existing Custom Field to edit its details or change its permissions.

Delete fields by selecting them and choosing Delete from the listed options.

Tip: Default fields can't be deleted, but you can edit their permissions so that they'll only be visible to Admins. Select Admin Only in the field's Permissions tab and save your changes.

How to hide Custom Fields

With the exception of Start Date, Reports To, and Skills, any Custom Fields that are also “default” fields can be hidden from employee profiles.

To hide a Custom Field:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Customize Profiles.
  2. For any Custom Field you’d like to hide, hover over the field and then click the three dots that appear to the right of the Custom Field name.
  3. Click “Edit”.
  4. Under Permissions > Visibility, select “Hidden” from the drop-down menu.
  5. Click Save.

Once these changes are saved, hidden Custom Fields will not show up on employee profiles, reports, or Org Chart cards. Custom Fields that are not default fields can simply be deleted, rather than hidden.
