How to Migrate Your Existing Groups to Teams

If you have an existing Pingboard account, you may have previously chosen to customize the terminology of your Groups by labeling your Groups as Teams. If you would like to add the Teams category to your Directory, Org Chart, and Profiles, you will need to manually enable Teams and then migrate your existing Groups over to Teams.

Why should I make this migration?

  • The Teams Matrix view in the Org Chart is powered by Teams. If you would like to see a matrix view to understand your cross-functional team structure, you will need to enable Teams.
  • If you would like to differentiate between your company’s “groups” and your company’s designated “teams”, it would be beneficial to make this migration.
  • The most simple way to see how your company’s teams operate across different departments in Pingboard is to use the Teams setting.

How can I migrate my Groups to Teams?

If you are an Admin or Company Editor with a Pingboard account where your your Groups were not custom labeled as Teams, but you would like to rename your Groups and migrate them to Teams, you can do so from the Teams tab of your Directory.

Here are the steps to migrate your existing Groups to Teams:

  1. Select the “Migrate My Groups to Teams” button.
  2. In the box that appears, type in the name “Team” (or any name you’d like to label your Teams) under the Team label and “Group” (or any name that you’d like to rename your Groups) under the Group Label.
  3. Make sure the “Migrate my Groups to Teams” toggle is turned ON. If this toggle is not turned on, the Teams setting will still be enabled.
  4. Select the “Migrate” button. Note: You cannot undo this action. Migrating your Groups to Teams is a permanent action.

If you are an Admin or Company Editor with a Pingboard account where your Groups have been given the custom name “Team”, you should see an “Enable Teams” button when you visit the Groups tab of your Directory.

Here are the steps to enable the Teams designation, and then migrate your existing Groups to Teams:

  1. Select the “Enable Teams” button.
  5. After migration, you can visit Account Settings to customize your terminology for Groups and Teams. You can also enable the Teams toggle from your Account Settings.

Once the migration is complete, any and all places in your Org Chart, Directory, Surveys, and Data Syncs that once housed, used or mapped to your Groups will now house, use or map to your Teams. Any previous Reports that were created for a specific Group will not be affected by this migration.
